Office Renovation Case Study

Transforming an Employee Cafeteria into a Park-Inspired Workplace

Designing Within Budget DESIGNED BY ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS DESIGN OFFICE

Design Concept: Green Park

Overview

An office cafeteria renovation designed to improve employee well-being, strengthen employer branding, and support recruitment—all within a construction budget of approximately ¥10 million.

The Challenge

The existing cafeteria was functional but uninspiring. Rows of standard office tables and chairs created a space employees rarely wanted to use.

Rather than simply redesigning the interior, we first asked a different question:

What business challenge was this renovation really meant to solve?

Research Before Design

RESEARCH/CONCEPT

Before developing any concepts, we conducted research into the client's company culture, recruitment strategy, and long-term vision.

We discovered that attracting younger talent and strengthening employee engagement were key priorities.

This insight became the foundation of the design.

Rather than starting with aesthetics, we began by understanding the client's business objectives.

Design Concept

A Park-Inspired Café

The goal was to create a comfortable third place within the workplace—somewhere employees would naturally choose to spend time.

A place where people feel connected without being forced to interact.

The space encourages both quiet individual breaks and spontaneous conversations—similar to spending time in a public park.

Spatial Strategy

Designing Within Budget

Instead of allocating most of the budget to expensive finishes, we focused on furniture planning, spatial composition, and lighting.

This approach maximized the impact of the renovation while maintaining cost efficiency.

Design quality does not always depend on expensive materials. It depends on thoughtful planning.

Visualizing the Design Before Construction

Photorealistic 3D visualization and animation enabled the client to experience the future space before construction began.

This reduced uncertainty and supported faster decision-making throughout the project.

We believe visualization is not the final step of design—it is part of the design process itself.

The Result

The proposal successfully secured the project.

For us, visualization is not simply about producing attractive images.

This project demonstrates how research, strategy, and visualization work together to support better design decisions.
